Now, we could write some text to describe what Mozilla is, but a picture tells a thousand words. Sadly, we don't have a picture to describe what Mozilla is... but no need to worry, we have a video instead (which must tell a bazillion words)!
However, if you would like to read some text (and the Mozilla Manifesto) you can find it at mozilla.org/about.
Mozilla UK is none other than you (well... if you live in the UK and are interested in Mozilla)! Mozilla UK is a small subset of the global Mozilla Community of 40,000. We are the ones who go out and do our bits to help make Mozilla awesome. We contribute code, convert 'z' to 's' and make all those little locale changes from en-US to en-GB. It is us who helps you when you have a Firefox problem, and it is us who organise great big parties whenever there is something Mega-Awesome-Mozillary to celebrate.
Not only is Mozilla UK awesome, but you are too. Just for visiting this page you became more awesome and we would like to thank you for being so awesome... by the way... did we mention how awesome you are?
So who maintains this site? Well it is a small collection of equally awesome people like you. These people are:
Tobias Markus is specialised in WebQA and SUMO (not as in sumo wrestler but as in Mozilla user support). He started contributing to Mozilla way back in 2008 and has since become very active in many other areas of the Mozilla project. Sure he is German but we won't hold that against him, after all Mozilla is a global community. Tobbi (as he is usually known) is the Mozilla UK domain name owner.
Tom Ellins, long time Mozilla contributor, specialises in WebQA and SUMO. He is now branching out into other areas of the Mozilla project such as community sites and participation. TMZ as we know him is our back-end (that's behind-the-scenes, not anything else!) guy so you are unlikely to ever see him unless there is a major issue... if you've got a problem then he is the person to go to.
Leo McArdle is possibly the youngest Mozillian that we know of in the UK, however this is definitely one of his strong points. He's a Mozilla Rep passionate about Community Websites and, of course, anything else Mozilla! He stumbled upon SUMO's get involved page in 2008 and hasn't looked back since. Other hobbies of his include web development, public speaking and Human Rights activism. Leo is another one of the site administrators and is happy to help you whenever you need it... well... as long as he's awake.
William Duyck, community volunteer since the age of 13 started working with the Mozilla community back in 2005, helps with anything to do with community engagement. Organising events, helping run events, and creating fun online activities for the whole Mozilla community, and now working on getting more people involved with Mozilla. William (or FuzzyFox) is the helping hand behind the scenes of Mozilla UK doing whatever is needed, from writing content to changing the light bulbs that appear above your head when you have a great idea.
Paul Booker, is also a long time Mozilla contributor who used to be a Drupal developer and site administrator for spreadfirefox.com (2005 - 2011) and drumbeat.org. Recently he has been helping out with Engagement as an author for the about:mozilla newsletter and with Firefox support on Twitter. Paul is passionate about the open Web and the federated social Web and runs the sites i < 3 the openweb and mozilla.status.net and is always looking for new ways to contribute to the Mozilla community.
Want to join this list?! We want you to too, so tell us a bit about yourself and lend a hand to keeping this site and the Mozilla UK community alive and kicking!
